Frequently asked questions
Is pairPaint free?
Yes — pairPaint is completely free with no paywalls, subscriptions, or accounts required. Just open the app and start drawing right away.
Can I use pairPaint as an MS Paint online alternative?
Absolutely! pairPaint offers classic Microsoft Paint-style simplicity combined with modern digital art tools: pencil, 11 brush styles, eraser, flood fill (paint bucket) with 9 patterns, 18 vector shapes, text, and sticker tools directly in your browser.
How does the online whiteboard work for teaching and classrooms?
Teachers can create a room, choose 'Creator mode', and share a random 5-letter code with students. The teacher sees live previews of all student canvases, can draw directly onto any student's board to give guidance, and can download the entire class's artwork as a multi-page PDF.
Can multiple people draw together on the same canvas?
Yes! By switching room settings to 'Open mode', everyone in the room draws together on a shared collaborative canvas in realtime with zero latency.
Do I need to sign up or log in?
No registration or login is required. You can draw alone or collaborate in rooms completely anonymously with any display name you choose.
Where are my drawings saved?
Your artwork is autosaved locally to your browser's internal storage on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any private server or cloud account, keeping your drawings private.
Does pairPaint work offline?
Yes. All drawing tools, shapes, brushes, autosave, PNG export, and PDF export work completely offline. An internet connection is only needed when joining or hosting realtime collaboration rooms.
How do rooms keep students and kids safe?
Rooms use private 5-letter codes and optional password protection. Room creators (teachers or parents) hold full moderation control: they can pause any participant's drawing or remove them from the room at any time.
Can I print my drawings or export them as PDF / PNG?
Yes. You can toggle the A4 print-area guide to frame your work for standard paper printing, then export with one tap to high-resolution PNG or PDF.
Can I use pairPaint on PC, Chromebooks, tablets, and phones?
Yes. pairPaint runs in any modern web browser across Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebooks, iPads, tablets, and smartphones without installing any apps or extensions.
What is the best free online paint app for kids?
pairPaint is built for young artists: big friendly buttons, 11 brush styles, 36 vector stickers, 88 black-and-white coloring outlines, and 566 emojis — all free in the browser with no login. Kids can draw, color, and add text in 5 fun fonts, and everything autosaves on the device.
Can students join a whiteboard room without an account?
Yes. Students just open pairPaint, tap the people button, and enter the teacher's 5-letter room code — no account, no email, no download. They can pick any display name and start drawing immediately, which makes it ideal for classrooms where setting up student logins isn't practical.
How do I draw together with friends online in real time?
Tap the people button and tap Create room, then share the 5-letter code with your friends. They enter the code on their own devices and join instantly. In Open mode everyone draws together on one shared canvas in realtime; in Creator mode everyone gets their own canvas.
What is the best free online whiteboard for teachers?
pairPaint gives teachers a free online whiteboard with live student previews: create a room, share the code, watch every student's canvas live, draw directly on any student's board to guide them, pause or remove participants, and export the whole class's work as one multi-page PDF — no accounts or subscriptions.
Does pairPaint work on Chromebook?
Yes. pairPaint runs entirely in the browser, so it works on Chromebooks with nothing to install — a practical free paint app for Chromebook classrooms. It also runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPads, tablets, and phones.
What replaced Google Jamboard?
Google shut down Jamboard on December 31, 2024. pairPaint is a free Jamboard alternative: a collaborative online whiteboard where teachers create rooms with simple codes, students join with no login, and everyone draws together in realtime — plus painting tools, stickers, and PDF export that Jamboard never had.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. pairPaint is a web app — just open pairpaint.pages.dev in any modern browser and start drawing. There is nothing to install, no app store download, and no extensions required on PC, Chromebook, tablet, or phone.
Is pairPaint safe for kids?
Yes. There are no accounts and no tracking — pairPaint never asks for names or emails, and drawings stay in the browser on the child's own device. Collaboration rooms use private 5-letter codes with optional passwords, and room creators can pause or remove anyone.
Can I use pairPaint for online tutoring?
Yes. Tutors can create a room, share the code with the student, and both draw on a shared virtual whiteboard in realtime — sketch diagrams, annotate, and work through problems together. It works in any browser with no login, so sessions start in seconds.
Does pairPaint have stickers and coloring pages for kids?
Yes. pairPaint includes 36 vector stickers, 566 color emojis, and 88 black-and-white coloring-book outlines (animals, trees, vehicles, and more). Kids can stamp stickers, color the outlines with brushes, and add text — a complete online coloring app for kids, free with no login.

Privacy policy
No accounts, no tracking. pairPaint does not ask for names, emails or any personal information.
Drawings are stored only in your browser on your device (autosave). They are never uploaded anywhere.
If you join a collaboration room, your drawing strokes and chosen display name are sent through a public message service so the other people in the same room can see them — only while you are in the room. Room codes are random; keep your code and password private if you want a private room.
We do not sell data, and we do not knowingly collect information from children beyond what is needed for rooms to work.
