Why Everyone Goes Looking for MS Paint Online
For thirty years, MS Paint was just there — on every Windows PC, ready for a quick sketch, a screenshot annotation or a kid's first digital drawing. Then life moved to other devices. Your laptop is a Chromebook now, your desktop is a Mac, the school computer is locked down, or the new Windows Paint has been redesigned into something unfamiliar. Microsoft never released an official MS Paint for the browser, so the classic app simply vanishes from daily life.
I built pairPaint to be the answer to that search: the classic Paint experience — simple, instant, friendly — rebuilt as a web app that runs anywhere a browser runs.
The Classic Tools, Exactly Where You Expect Them
If you have ever used Paint, you already know how to use pairPaint. The essentials are all present and behave the way your hands remember:
- Pencil and brushes: freehand drawing with adjustable size, from fine lines to broad strokes.
- Fill bucket: one click floods an enclosed area with color — or with decorative pattern fills.
- Shapes and lines: 18 editable vector shapes — rectangles, circles, arrows, stars — that stay adjustable after you draw them.
- Eraser, text and color palette: the everyday trio, plus a text tool with 5 fun fonts for labels and captions.
- Select and move: grab any area of the canvas to move, copy or export just that part.
There is no ribbon to learn and no manual to read. Kids, parents and grandparents start drawing within seconds — that was always Paint's real magic, and I refused to complicate it.
What the Browser Version Adds
Staying faithful to the classic doesn't mean freezing in 1995. pairPaint keeps Paint's soul and adds what a browser app does better: your work autosaves as you draw, undo is unlimited, and export includes true A4 PDF in portrait or landscape, so a poster designed on screen prints exactly right. There are 24 artistic brushes when you outgrow the basics, 36 stickers and 88 coloring outlines for quick starts, and a dark mode for late-night sessions.
And one thing desktop Paint could never do: press the people icon, create a room, and anyone can draw together with you online on the same canvas, live, from their own device — no accounts on either side.
Paint Where MS Paint Can't Go
Chromebook at school, iPad on the sofa, a Mac at work, a library PC between classes — if it has a browser, it has your paint app. Nothing to install means nothing for an IT department to block, and your editor is always the latest version. Start a drawing on the classroom computer and finish it on your phone at home.

MS Paint Online FAQs
Can I use MS Paint online without downloading it?
Microsoft Paint itself is a Windows desktop app — Microsoft does not offer an official browser version. pairPaint gives you the classic Paint experience online instead: the same pencil, brush, bucket fill, shapes and text tools, running free in any browser with nothing to download.
Is pairPaint the same as Microsoft Paint?
No — pairPaint is an independent app I built, inspired by the classic MS Paint I grew up with. It is not made by or affiliated with Microsoft. It keeps the pick-up-and-draw simplicity of the original and adds browser-era extras like autosave, unlimited undo and live collaborative rooms.
How do I get MS Paint on a Chromebook or Mac?
You cannot install Microsoft Paint on a Chromebook or Mac — it only exists for Windows. The practical route is a browser-based paint app: pairPaint runs in Chrome on a Chromebook and in any modern browser on a Mac, with the familiar Paint toolset ready in seconds and no installation at all.
Does it have the classic Paint tools — pencil, fill bucket, shapes?
Yes. Pencil, brushes, eraser, flood-fill bucket, lines and shapes, text, and a full color palette are all there, in the places a Paint user expects. On top of the classics you get 24 artistic brushes, pattern fills, stickers and an area selector for moving parts of your drawing.
Can I open and save PNG files like in MS Paint?
Yes. Export any drawing as a PNG image, just like saving in Paint — or go further with a true A4 PDF in portrait or landscape for printing. Your work also autosaves in your browser as you draw, so a closed tab never means a lost picture.
